Year round work along with work in downtown Charleston is difficult to come across. Finding a job outside the city in Mount Pleasant or North Charleston is not as difficult. The majority of jobs downtown are related to the tourism field; therefore, working in a hotel, restaurant, or bar is fantastic gig especially if one has prior experience. There is a large private fishing industry in Charleston that will also take on mates to work long hours guiding tourists through the channels and occasionally competing in fishing tournaments. Construction is an option for those seeking work as the city is expanding and more architects and manual laborers are needed.
