SEASONAL WORK IN MUHAFAZAT MATRUH
SPRING
Spring is the time when Siwa stops being in season and Marsa Matruh starts to get going. Siwa can still be quite busy and so work as an English speaking waitress etc is still possible in the resorts. Unlikely you will find work in Marsa Matruh in spring.
SUMMER
Summer is the low season in Siwa and high season in Marsa Martuth. So you may well find work in the beach town as they say over 1 million Egyptians come to Marsa Matruh in the summer - having a foreigner as a waitress would be a novelty and so may well pull in the crowds. The only area you might get involved in Siwa with in the summer is the sand baths that are popular with Egyptians, but there are very few foreign tourists in the summer.
AUTUMN
October / November is speak season for foreigners in Siwa and so a good time to contact hosts in Siwa for work in tourism or harvesting with the olives and dates.
WINTER
Skiing in Muhafazat Matruh - does it exist? Are there plenty of opportunities for people to get work in Muhafazat Matruh in the winter? What kind of skills are needed at this time of year? Please update this section and let fellow travellers know what you have learnt if you have worked in Muhafazat Matruh in the winter or if you are a Host and live here and can share your knowledge.
ATTITUDE TO FOREIGNERS WORKING IN MUHAFAZAT MATRUH
Foreigners equals " tourists" and so they will be surprised you want to, or need to work :) A local English speaking Egyptian can earn $50 a month in Cairo working in a Hostel.... so the wages are low and they will assume you are looking for a lot more. So is best to look for volunteering opportunities. The attitude is great, they will love to work with you and you will not have any problems :)
