Workers Required for Eco Farm in Nepal

Staying on our farm, you will have opportunities to learn more about ecological and organic farming practices and methods, experience rural Nepali lifestyles, exploring the culture of Tharu People, practice Nepali and so on. Mr. Padam Raj Ghimire and Mrs. Pramila Ghimire and their lovely children Dipendra and Deepika, and their grandmother Tulasi Devi Ghimire as well, will be your hosts, providing lively conversation, lots of laughter, and wholesome farm cuisine. We have specially designed thatched-roof cottage for the volunteers, located within the garden, with four separate room. We provide each volunteer individual room. Toilet is attached with this cottage and bathroom is just in front of it. Volunteers are expected to live as a member of the family. We offer typical Nepali cuisines, mostly dal, bhat, tarkaari & achar. Milk products are also often available. Volunteers participate in the seasonal and daily rounds of the farm and household and can also engage in community More...projects. Here are some possibilities: Ecological & Organic Farming. Milk buffaloes, land preparation, vegetables and crops plantation, weeding, making composts, watering, help design a new project. We welcome guests to participate at all levels. In return, you'll learn about integrating animal husbandry with crops, growing food in forest farms, organic pest control, and the crops appropriate to various seasons in this semi-tropical region. Construction Project: You can assist the family to construct ecologically designed gazebo, hut with using all local products like bamboo, straw, hay and mud. Food Processing. Growing food is only part of the job. Next comes all the work that gets that food to the table. In Nepal, that work is often done by women, but in our home, men are encouraged to join in too. Churn butter, grind turmeric and specialty flours, prepare spicy chutneys, and learn how to make homestyle Nepali dal bhat. Teaching English. If you are interested, you can also teach English or any other subjects to the village children. In return, you can enjoy the smiles and laughter of the children. Community Projects. For those with the initiative, there are opportunities to get involved with various community groups. For instance, a local woman's group wishes to set up a library. Padam and family wish to build a network to encourage other farmers in the area to move to organic farming. Hide
