English teaching volunteers in India make learning English fun and inspire students to reach their full potential. Work in local schools at primary and secondary level or provide private tuition to students whose families cannot afford quality education. Village schools have small class numbers with students who are keen to learn. The children value class time with fluent English speakers and it gives them the opportunity to improve and practice English speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. For volunteers teaching English, it is not necessary to have an in-depth knowledge of English grammar, and sometimes the secret of teaching is to appear to have known all your life what you just learn that morning! For those volunteers with a professional interest in teaching this is a fantastic opportunity to broaden your skills in a new environment. For those without prior experience it will be a learning journey and a rewarding experience working with the children of KrishnagiMore...ri district, Tamilnadu state and Bangalore region of Karnataka State, in the south part of India. English teaching materials are available at the volunteer house and volunteers are free to bring along their own resources.
