Assisting teacher at the Port St Johns Junior Secondary School

The aim of the volunteer placement at the school is to build on the well-being of the children of this area, by providing them with high quality education. By placing international volunteers, the children will get exposed to a different culture, new experiences and outside perspectives, which will broaden their view and knowledge. The main focus of the volunteer is to teach children aged between 3-6 years, following the official curriculum as approved by the Department of Education in Grade R and Grade 1. Apart from assisting the teachers in the younger grades, volunteers can also be placed in Grade4, 5 and 6 where they are allocated with six teaching hours per week.
