A therapist may deal with cardiopulmonary, orthopedic, neuromuscular, wound care, traumatic brain injuries, CVA, multiple trauma, musculoskeletal disorders and dysfunctions, dementia, chronic pain. Physical Therapists help patients ambulate, transfer, use assistive devices,
re educate the neuromuscular system, train balance, prevent falls, manage cardiopulmonary diseases and impairments, improve endurance, manage breathing, manage blood pressure, improve mobility, improve range of motion and increase overall function for activities of daily living, sports, work and managing chronic pain. They utilize manual techniques, devices, specific and targeted exercise, various equipment, home exercise programs, caretaker training and modalities to facilitate treatment approaches. Therapists intact with physicians, surgeons, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapist and personal care aids. Therapists work privately, in homes, in hospitals, in rehab centers, in penitentiaries and throughout communities. They are also responsible for screening patients and referring patents to any and all additional appropriate levels of care.
