MERS 999 Manager - Regional Implementation & Operation and Network

The Malaysian Emergency Response Services (MERS) 999 is a national project providing centralized system that combines fire, police, hospital, civil defense and maritime agencies under one platform. MERS 999 automates emergency call answering and response with a single 999 emergency .
My involvement in MERS 999 is as below:
Jan 2015 - Oct 2015
Managing 3 teams for remote and on-site operation and maintenance of MERS 999 at Northern and Central regions of Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak, covering 87 Public Safety Command Centers (PSCC), 154 Lite Computer Added Dispatch (CAD) centers, 167 Mobile CAD devices, 2 Response Centers, 2 System Technology Centers and 2 training centers.
2011 - 2014
Led 2 teams to design, plan and manage the implementation and maintenance of 48 PSCC in Southern and Northern regions of Peninsular Malaysia for MERS 999 within the project timeline. Job scope involved civil work, mechanical and electrical (M&E), network, hardware and application such as Computer ephony Interface (CTI), CAD and Geographical Information System (GIS).
Led and managed the team for implementation of Lite CAD system and hardware at 270 Balai Bomba Dan Penyelamat (BBP) nationwide, including system training to the fire fighters within the given timeline.
2008 - 2014
Led a team of 3 staff in installing new Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IPVPN) connectivity for the new MERS 999 sites nationwide, performing three critical functions in service fulfillment, namely management, solution integration and program management. The highlight of this team was when the IPVPN network at 41 sites were compley upgraded within one month, that usually takes up three months to accomplished.

Integration
– One of the members in a team specially assembled to design and prepare the proposal for MERS 999 to the Government of Malaysia, focusing on the network portion (IPVPN and PSTN) of the proposal. The proposal for MERS 999 was tabled in the Cabinet and approval was given to proceed with the project.
Designed and implemented Phase 1 of MERS 999, involving implementation of fixed e lines to 126 hospitals and 33 PDRM’s District Command (DC) centers nationwide within the timeline.
Solution Assistant Manager – Project Management & Solution Delivery

– Performed Project Team Leader 1 (PTL1) service delivery function for network services, namely IPVPN, COINS Frame Relay (FR) and ATM for enterprise customers.
Among the customers and projects were Maybank Ofank ATM IPVPN (572 sites), Maybank Credit Card IPVPN (140 sites), BCB IPVPN (350 sites), AADK (145 sites), LHDN (61 sites), MIDA Global IPVPN, BCB Global IPVPN, Standard Chartered FR and Hong Leong IPVPN.

– Support TM Sales team in developing total solution as requested by customers. Highlight of the day was when AEON (M) Sdn. Bhd. agreed to subscribe to TM IPVPN based on the proposal and presentation given by me. AEON was the first customer to take up IPVPN with the newly introduced Huawei router package.

Founder and mentor for Usahawan Budak Sekolah Kuala Lumpur (UBSKL), a startup to educate and encourage youngsters to participate in real life entrepreneurship endeavors. UBSKL is also platform for talent identification and talent development in children.

Collaborating with Foresight Young Learners’ Studios for an initiative in solving education and learning challenges in Malaysia. The approach is to identify the learning issues and solving each issue with one startup.
Always participate and attend Malaysia Global Innovation and Creative Center (MaGIC) events such as Social Enterprise Roundtable, Malaysia Social Entrepreneurship Blueprint and other after-work talks and weekend seminars.
About Me
I'm a 39 year old single mother of 4 growing children. My hobby is reading and travelling. I read almost everything but nowadays I read more entrepreneurship books and motivational books. In term of music, I listen to classical and music of the 80s and 90s.
My passion is in entrepreneurship and I'm developing my children to be entrepreneurs since young. My other passion is talent development.
For me, whatever happened in life (good or bad), it happened for a good reasons. Always look for the silver lining in the cloud.
