Employment History
Construction [June 2018) [June/July 2016]• I spend several weeks working on the entire redevelopment of a derelict five bedroom property in Lincolnshire. This gave me a primary insight into the various stages involved in residential redevelopment and how each stage is carried out in practice, which increased my ability to approach new tasks logically with enthusiasm.
Delivery [Feb 2016 – May 2016]• As a part time job to support my university studies I worked at a local pizza franchise, this has helped increased my awareness of the importance of time management.
Waiter [October 2013 – August 2014)]• The Gressingham Restaurant at Thernham Hall. Working as a waiter developed my interpersonal skills with customers and amongst other valuable lessons it improved my ability to work efficiently and harmoniously within a team of colleagues.
Skills and accomplishments
Academia
- I found the study of A level maths to be a valuable learning curve in problem solving, covered such topics as cost theory and estimation, often relating to example scenarios where clients need advice on monetary decisions. I believe these skills can be applied to any problem one may be faced with, by breaking any issue down to its components and tackling each one individually most problems can be worked through.
- I am competent in professional report writing having written many reports in various subjects including Law, Surveying, Engineering and Construction. In my most recent report I advised a ‘client’ on details of the law surrounding land ownership.
- The Valuation module within the Real Estate course has covered several methods of property valuation which I am confident with, having understood and practiced many example valuations. Last year I gained an average of 78% in this module.
- With regard to computing software, I am conversant with Microsoft office suite (word, excel, powerpoint). As well as this the study of product design and engineering has given me several years of experience working with Computer Aided Design (CAD) programs such as ‘PTC creo’ and ‘solidworks’.
Sports
- Participation in sporting interests has given me the blessing of being able to work well with all types of people; as a team member, or as an individual working towards a common goal. Throughout school and sixth form I was an avid Rugby player and captained the school team for several years, this taught me how to take a leadership role in a firm but diplomatic manner.
- Some other sporting activities which I have enjoyed are skiing and sailing. These are sports which always test ones skill and perseverance, there are always ways to become better in these activities, which is a characteristic that motivates and excites me. After sailing for a couple of years I passed my level 2 sailing certificate. I also hope to gain a qualification as a ski instructor to fund skiing season at some point in the future.
Lifestyle
- Acupuncture has always fascinated me in the potential health benefits on the human body, and although I have not extensively studied this I do have a qualification in Korean Hand Acupuncture.
- I have completed a week’s training in rope access. This level one qualification will allow me to work at height using ropes and climbing equipment to service, clean, maintain etc. any hard to reach structure.
- I support the viewpoint that experiencing other cultures can be beneficial to ones inlect. In 2015 I visited Thailand and Cambodia and last summer I toured around Europe. I found this expeirence very interesting; to be in Europe so soon after Brexit and to hear what local people in European countries thought about the whole thing. I feel that these experiences not only gave me more perspective but also forced me to become a lot more self-reliant.
About Me
I enjoy being sociable and listening to people's stories and thoughts on things that are happening in the world which is why I like travelling so much! During the day I like to do something worthwhile, like doing some work or some kind of physical exercise like going to the gym preferably with friends if they are around. To relax I like to read books, I recently read one called the power of now which was a good read with some great ideas for relaxation and mindfulness, and I am really into the listening to lots of different music from UK hip hop to Spanish Jazz music I find music is a great way to enjoy life. All in all I would say that as well as being happy in my own company, I am always up for socialising with people and finding new and exciting things to do.
