Kennel Hand
2 week work experience placement, October 2010
Responsibilities
My role at the kennel was to ensure that each dog would be kept to the standards that their owners would be content with. Often, unique instructions for each dog would be left upon their arrival, so it was vital that I followed these instructions carefully for the well-being of both dog and owner. I would ensure that each dog was given the correct amount of food and daily exercise according to their specific needs, as well as keeping the kennels and enrichment areas clean and tidy.
Accomplishments
My presence greatly impacted the well-being of the dogs at the kennel, as they could often become very unhappy whilst away from home. During my time at Isadene I ensured that all dogs were as content as possible, often spending large amounts of my spare time each day making sure they remained happy and healthy until their owners returned.

I would apply and remove the tack for each session, after which I would clean out the horse's stable, groom and check feed and water for the day.
Accomplishments
My role as a volunteer was vital to the success of these sessions, as I was able to provide a disabled individual with one-to-one support at all times, helping them to communicate with the larger group. I also ensured the safety and comfort of the horses during the sessions.
Skills Used
