About Me

Greetings!

Well, it’s been a few years since I was on the road and really, really excited to see where I go this time.

My first European cycling trip and HelpX experiences included helping restore a chateau in France for three months, then I cycled to northern Italy where I assisted at a vineyard for two months and briefly worked at a beach bar on my way south to Greece.

While in Greece I worked at an olive grove and bicycle shop for two months and I even apprenticed as a silversmith in a jewelry shop. I continued to live and work in Greece till late 2014 when I returned to the United States.

Total trip, about + kilometers by bicycle and friends all over Europe.

I've been an avid cyclist and Taoist for several years.

I'm a machinist with twenty years in manufacturing so have a great attention to detail and work well with my hands in nearly any role (not afraid to ask questions). I was a good cook and it has been suggested many times that I consider becoming a chef, not just by family but to be honest the years alone have left that skill a bit rusty to say the least. Having served six years in the Navy I have experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, sanitary, water, air conditioning and industrial kitchen equipment.

I am able-bodied, have good health and capable of most general labor roles also being a quick study and willing to learn as I go. Through my travels I have learned enough French, German, Italian, Spanish and Greek to survive while cycling alone.

Note: Survive, conversational is usually beyond my ability to speak but I understand a great deal of these languages.

My schedule is flexible enough to adjust to your needs and I can certainly stay longer with the right host but am always willing to commit at least a month just to get to know each-other. Please feel free to me with any questions and I would like to thank all the wonderful hosts I've spoken to and stayed with already!
