Host overview

We are two wildlife biologists who wear several different hats, which I’ll describe in a very cursory manner. Our main work is as the two biologists that make up FaunaWest Wildlife Consultants, which means that we are hired by anyone who wants to have us find out something about the wildlife or wildlife habitat that they are interested in. Our other “hat” is as the biologist hosts of Bison Quest Wildlife Vacations – a place where we provide a private vacation experience in the wilderness of the Big Belt Mountains to help connect and teach guests about wildlife and bison. And yet another of our “hats” is as the owners of Wild Echo Bison Reserve – a Montana ranch where a herd of bison reside.

    What we provide

    How we work

We have 2 bedrooms available downstairs with a kitchen and bath, so most likely you will be staying there, although we also have a camper available. Since we rarely have more than four volunteers here at a time, you won’t be sharing your space with many others. We will supply food for three meals a day. If you have special needs or likes, plan to get it and bring it along before you arrive. There aren’t any stores once you get up here and there’s no quick run into town (we make a run into town once a week for supplies). We usually do family style meals and will all eat the dinner meal (on a ranch that’s the mid-day meal) together. I don’t buy much processed snack food (I always have fresh bread), so if you like chips, candy, cookies, etc, you should bring them. Other food lifestyles are welcome (vegan or vegetarian) but you will need to make sure that you bring any specialty items with you.
