I worked for four years at the same tiny little Dairy Queen in a small town throughout high school and was manager by the time I left. Here I was in charge of leading a team. It was my job to keep them motivated and want to come to work. I made the schedule and was in charge of weekly deposits and other duties included in supervising a group pf employees. I left there to work for a ho as a night auditor. It was my responsibility to print and organize daily reports and find and correct errors that may have occurred during the work day. I later joined the world of coffee. I worked at a small coffee stand where I was eventually promoted to manager and again was required to make schedule, hire and train new employees, take inventory and place weekly orders, leading and team and being available to work whenever called upon. I continued my barista skills down in San Diego where I as fortunate enough to learn more about coffee and its qualities. I attended a coffee training for a few days discussing the different properties of the coffee plant, berry, harvesting, purchasing, roasting distributing, preparing I was lead supervisor when leaving to return back to Washington. Here I started diving into the food industry even further and became a server, weighting tables. I got the opportunity to then work on an organic produce farm in Northwest Washington through the season. My duties included sales, deliveries, harvest, prep, planting and community supported agriculture distribution. At the end of the season I headed down south to Maui where I worked on a micro-greens farm, harvesting sprouts, herbs, citrus and avocado. I gained many agriculture skills from the hands on work at these farms. I moved back to Washington to attend Western Washington University to study Social Justice and Music Education. Here in Bellingham I tend bar in town at a small fine dining restaurant and at the local ski resort as well. I intend to be a teacher one day but feel the need to acquire a more diverse skill set before doing so.
About Me
Hello! I have so much gratitude for you for taking the time to read this. I am so enthralled with the idea of Working Traveller and the vision that they have set forth. I am full of adventure and I am excited to be a part of whatever skill may be presented to me. I want to be your worker. I am dedicated to the jobs I set out to do. I thrive off of learning new skills and gaining new perspectives on the world and every day tasks. I am 22 years old and have a fire burning inside of me that wont quite. I have dipped my toes into what lies beyond my tiny town in the corner of the world and I just want to plunge right in and get to work enjoying my days in new places. I am very adventurous and am anxious to give into that side of myself. I live off of giggles and smiling. I know when to be serious and work hard but I always want to be happy with what I am doing. I am currently a Music Education student in Washington State and find myself in a bit of a rut. I need to explore some things and learn something outside of a school environment and then return when I am ready. I have a vision to teach music and I will never let it slip away I am just putting it on pause for now. And that is where you play in I hope! I love to sing and play guitar. Part of my goal with travelling is to collect new sounds as an addition in my brain to the music I already know. Culture is so important to me, and most people for that matter. I want to write and take pictures of the wonderful people and places I will have the pleasure experiencing. I hobby in film photography and blog and short story writing. I can't get enough of the outdoors. I take my dog backpacking in the summers and snowboard in the winters. I am most myself when presented with nature and can emerge myself deep within it allowing daily toxins to be freed from my mind. I really like to cook and worldly influences would do no harm in that area =]. I want to be the best version of myself and I believe the way to do that is by exploring places you have never been a giving back to those people and places that offer such self reflection and happiness. So here I am, ready to go!
