Personal Statement

I am 19 years of age and have recently come back from a year doing volunteer teaching in China. I am currently seeking full or part time work in a professional organisation, to gain work experience or a possible career.

Key Skills

Excellent communicator with a basic knowledge of Mandarin picked up from working and living in China for 12 months.

A motivated individual who works well under pressure and can adapt to new situations efficiently.

A calm and confident leader with vast experience in leading activities in different environments and people of different ages and abilities.

Strong media skills in programmes such as Final cut A* in IT at GCSE level and proficient navigating skills around computers and editing software.


Career History

Project Trust
Volunteer English Teacher 2014-2015

12 month placement volunteering in China teaching English to secondary school students.
Full time English teacher in a foreign country.
Fund-raised £5600 for the Charity Project Trust.
Taught classes of approximay 70 children ageing between 14-18 years old.
Dealt with intense pressure controlling such large classes.
Picked up basic levels of Mandarin that allowed me to communicate with locals.

Till trained (Both manual and self service).
Customer service trained and dealt with difficult customers in a calm manner.
Worked as a sales representative on the Kobo E-reader stands.
Work through deliveries quickly and efficiently with a good knowledge of the stock we held.
Worked well in a team and maintained professionalism throughout the years.

Volunteer 2012&2013

Summer camp volunteer, working alongside campers with severe disabilities, assisting in various activities.
Skills in working with people with many different abilities and ages.
An understanding of how to treat disabled individuals and maintaining an air of professionalism whilst making sure their time spent was enjoyable.

Work experience 2011

2 week work experience placement in my local primary school.
Classroom assistant, helping children in various activities such as reading, spellings, Maths and English.
Assisted teachers in various jobs and activities.
Experience in working with young children.


Education, Qualifications and Training

Global citizenship award which includes a years placement volunteering in a foreign country, fund-raising £5600, selection, teacher training and debriefing.

Community Sports leadership award which includes a years worth of weekly placements coaching primary school children various sporting activities such as basketball, football, netball and volleyball. Class sizes of around 12 children ageing between 7 and 10 years old.

Interests

Teamwork and Sports- I enjoy working in a team as it gives you the opportunity to meet new people, gain new ideas and improve your own style of work. I was involved in a lot of local sporting competitions and teams in my previous school.
