Profile
I am an ambitious mathematics graduate looking to progress in a professional career where my knowledge and enjoyment of mathematics and statistics can be utilised regularly to solve real business and research based problems.

After graduating top of my class at Liverpool John Moores University, and being invited to join the “Institute of Mathematics and its Applications”, I am determined to build on my existing portfolio of skills to establish a lengthy career in an area that I am passionate about.
Education
BSc (Hons) Mathematics: First Class (GPA: %)
Liverpool John Moores University, 2011 - 2014
Modules Including; Statistical Modelling, Linear Algebra, Multivariate Analysis, and Data Mining.

A-Levels: Mathematics (A), Chemistry (A) and Biology (B)
Bay House 6th Form, 2008 – 2010

GCSEs: Five Subjects A – A* including Mathematics (A*) and English Language (A)
Bay House School, 2003 - 2008
Skills
Analysis Software (SPSS, SSAS, Minitab, Matlab & Excel)
I have a great comprehension of statistical and mathematical programs, which have been vital throughout my degree and are critical in my professional work. Studying the methods a software application offers prior to in depth analysis, I ensure suitable techniques are applied based on the data available.

Business Inligence Software (SQL Server, MySQL & SSRS)
Essential in my daily role as a Business Inligence Developer, providing and displaying data insights as well as making necessary modifications to data tables through T-SQL commands.

Data Mining (Binary Logistic Regression, Decision Tree Analysis, Data Clustering & Neural Networks)
Experience in researching and implementing data mining models, creating data driven recommendations for a variety of departments within a business. This includes in depth testing to ensure model overfitting is minimised and performance is more likely to be maintained when applied to future data.

A/B Testing
Providing technical support in the implementation of Sykes Holiday Cottages’ first A/B testing platform. My role consisted of investigating and explaining the statistical methods appropriate for the data available, so that an in house solution could be provided. This included test statistics, confidence intervals, minimum sample sizes and the statistical interpretations of results.

Written Communication
I have strong written communication skills which were enhanced by regularly writing investigative reports during my university degree and are continually improved in my work. After carrying out robust data analysis, for areas such as personalised recommendation systems, I compile results into an informative report where conclusions are displayed in a clear and concise manner ensuring the reader, regardless of statistical background, can understand my findings.

Verbal Communication
Crucial in my role heading the business inligence support team at Sykes Holiday Cottages, where I ana-lyse and plan project requests with colleagues on a regular basis. Focus is placed on creating an optimal solution that meets project requirements whilst taking into consideration time and resource limitations.

Work Experience

Sykes Holiday Cottages
Business Inligence Developer (08/12/2014 – Present)
As part of a rapidly growing company in the travel industry, I have received great experience in applying my mathematical and IT skills to multiple areas including finance, marketing, customer services, and supplier care. Utilising a variety of software, my role consists of conducting investigative analysis, building reports, extracting data, and aiding in database maintenance. The role has recently expanded into producing data mining solutions, covering areas such as conversion rate optimisation and customer retention.

Revival Gardens
Landscaping Team Leader (02/05/2012 – 31/01/2014)
Working for a small landscaping business, I worked with the directors of the company, which provided a great insight into the business mechanisms of a newly formed company. After working with the company for a few months I was given opportunities to undertake my own projects, acting as a team leader, in which I personally analysed, discussed, and evaluated the best possible solutions for customers, whilst ensuring projects remained on course and within budget.

Bartender (21/08/2010 – 15/01/2012)
I worked full time in a local Wetherspoons for 2 years where I quickly improved my initiative and skills in communication.

About Me

I find great enjoyment in challenging myself in a variety of areas and as a result have been learning Spanish, as well as electric guitar, alongside my appetite for sports; mainly football and squash. In addition, I greatly enjoy travelling and the experience of being immersed in new cultures.
