2nd Assistant, McDonald’s
I joined the company in April of 2014 and in 1 year worked my way to shift manager. As a Shift Manager I ensure that everything is under control during my shifts.
My responsibilities include overseeing all operations from greeting customers to the quality and speed of service in my restaurants. Additionally, I am responsible for overseeing that adequate maintenance of equipment is carried out, keeping track of my stores inventory and monitoring the quality of products supplied. On an average day I lead a team of between 15-20 people. I have also been given direct tasks that I am solely responsible for, which are, training and crew rewards. I have to ensure that crew get their initial training when they start and ongoing training to keep them at our high standards. Over a period of a few months I managed to raise our training grade to 90%, the 3rd highest in our region. I have also developed a simple reward system that gives every crew member the chance to earn a paid weekend off once a month.
After 6 months in my role as a shift manager I was promoted to senior manager and then after another 6 months I was promoted once more to 2nd Assistant. With this new role I was given more responsibility as the scheduling manager, with over 100 employee's on the system. As 2nd assistant I am also involved more in the business aspects of the job. These responsibilities include, recruitment, interviewing, profit & loss controls and statements and inventory controls. I also have a large hand in training initiatives and employee reward schemes.
I have discovered this role to be very demanding and stressful at times but I have only enjoyed the challenge and am ways looking to improve myself for my store and my crew.

About Me
Lived in Brighton for most of my adult life. Fell in love with the freedom and charm of the city. Have always loved going travelling and exploring parts of the world I've never seen before. I love seeing and being part of new cultures. I find it much harder recently to be able to travel as much as I used to, with having a full time and job and having bills to pay. I see this as a way to carry on travelling whilst working for what I need. I am not afraid of hard work or getting dirt beneath my nails. I would love to work with animals, whether its just caring or even help in protecting them. This is something of a dream of mine.
