EXPERIENCE
USAID LEGAL ATTACHE TO MINISTRY OF JUSTICE; SOUTH SUDAN
2013 - JAN 2015
In this position, I had the opportunity to see the growth of law in South Sudan as I had the privilege of assisting in several drafting and amendment sessions by the members of parliament in their respective parliamentary committees, most memorably the CDF Amendment Act under the CDF committee chairlady at the time Hon. Beatrice Aber
THIKA LAW COURTS — 2013
For my LLB clinical training, I was posted to Thika Law Courts for six months at first as an intern in the Criminal and Civil registry and was later put under the mentorship of Principal Magistrate Hon. Orimba. At the Registry I had the opportunity to learn about the workings of the court with regards to file management and drafting of legal documents.
Hon Orimba’s mentorship was vital in that I learnt court proceedings in various kinds of matters and what it takes to be a judge. I got to visit the Kamiti Maximum Prison and became alive to the status of our prisons and what warders go through in maintaining peace and order among the remands. My interest was also peeked by the paralegal system in the prison and its great importance to the remands if they are to get a free and fair trial.
NATIONAL DISARMAMENT, DEMOBILISATION AND REINTEGRATION COMMISSION
SOUTH SUDAN — 2009-2012
NDDRC provided me with a part-time intern position over my school holiday. I was an intern at the reintegration sector where I worked with soldiers in the SPLA who were still minors, elderly personnel and those disabled by war and helped them leave the army and be reintegrated into their families and back to society.
