Host overview
This is an historic hippie commune in the 60's has become a working permaculture farm for vegetables, berries, fruit and chickens.
The Rio Hondo drains Taos Ski Valley (18 mi. away) into the Rio Grande (1 mi away). Our fields of grasses, sage, pinion pine and juniper look up to the Sangre de Christo Mountains and down on the Rio Hondo gorge. We live and teach self-sufficiency, have a large adobe solar home and shop, outbuildings, greenhouse, rootcellar. We love art, music, beauty, simplicity, natural healing, and helping one another attain skills to live successfully in challenging times. We're happy to share teaching and learning farming and survival skills with others who are open, flexible, and independent.
