Work Experience
May 2019 - Present Laboratory Technician (Halliburton)
I work in the cement laboratory with Halliburton, running various tests on the cement that will be pumped into the oil and gas wells. This is a very important position, as it was a failure of cement that caused the Deepwater Horizon disaster. As well as working in the lab in Dyce, I also have the potential to work offshore, and in various countries.
August 2018 - April 2019 Strategy Technical Assistant (Score Group)
As a Technical Assistant, I dealt with P&ID's from different oil and gas platforms. With these P&ID's, I categorised all of the different valves, what sizes they are and what they are used for, so that Score could arrange for spares or repairs when needed. Since there was a lot to do in this office, it was quite busy, so I was mainly on the valve side of things.
Jan 2018 – August 2018 Administrative Receptionist – Maternity Cover (International Fish Canners)
As the woman who I covered for had her baby before I started, I had to learn most of the job by myself, but I got the gist of things within a couple of days. As the administrative receptionist, I was the first person people saw when they arrived at the office. I was always friendly and helpful. I was also in charge of answering the s and sifting through what is a genuine call, and what is a cold call, and dealing with them appropriay. Within this job, I dealt with petty cash on a regular basis, so I am used to handling large amounts of money. I was also trusted with the filing of sensitive material, and organising interviews for new employees.
May 2017 –Jan 2018 Holiday Representative with TUI Travel
I moved to Madeira for 6 months whilst working as a holiday representative with TUI. Being a rep, I was the first point of for guests who had any questions or issues. I also dealt with selling various excursions, first of all through presenting a welcome meeting for an average of 50 people, then when I did my ho visits, so I am used to handling large amounts of cash and speaking to large s of people. As well as this, I was part of the airport team twice a week, welcoming new guests arriving on the island, and saying goodbye to those who were leaving. I enjoyed this job, as I met many different people from all walks of life.
July 2016 - May 2017 Tesco Counters Assistant
As the deli counter was the first thing customers saw as they arrived, I always made sure that I was well presented, and that my work station was tidy. I helped customers with, not just their deli needs, but with other queries that they had. I sometimes worked on the tills when they needed help, so I am used to interacting with various people and handling large amounts of cash.
Sept 2012 - June 2016 OPITO Process Discipline Apprenticeship
Working as a Process Operator with OPITO, I gained an NC in Engineering Systems and an HNC in Petroleum Process Technology, Operations and Control. During my time at college, I was nominated for Apprentice of the Year and came first place in the Process discipline. I then completed a two year placement at the SAGE gas plant in St Fergus. I was the first woman operator that the site has had. My training involved making sure that the plant was running smoothly – which included starting up or shutting down equipment, if needed, and also isolating systems so that other departments could safely complete maintenance on them, as well as making sure that people behaved safely and responsibly. I also aided my supervisor and shift members with paperwork, Isolation Control Certificates or Permits. During my time at SAGE, I completed a Gas Testing and ISSOW Level 1 course, a SIRPS course, and numerous Mintra CBT’s that related to legislation and safety.
